Stay Active!

Join us on Mondays at 9:00am to Stay Active. One hour once a week can help you stay fit and active. Join Sarah Jaacks, a trained physical therapist in the lobby of First Baptist for simple stretching exercises to aid mobility. No reservations needed. This class is designed for those 60 and older.



Daytimers is open to anyone who can attend events during the day - no matter what your age. Typically, the Daytimers take trips to local sights, often followed by a meal together. Daytimers generally meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Watch this space for events for November and December. Outings are also listed in the Epistle and the monthly newsletter.

Upcoming events -

November 14 - visit to Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie ($10 general admission for seniors). Lunch to follow at a near by restaurant.

December 19 - Oak Park River Forest Museum to see the exhibit Open House: The Legacy of Fair Housing ($5 general admission). Lunch follows at the Oak Park Conservatory ($10 for lunch). Read more »

Gratitude Sunday

Sunday, November 18, 2018 - 10:00am

We celebrate God's work in a Joint Worship service on Sunday, November 18th with First Baptist at 10:00am. People will share their stories of gratitude within the service. Immediately afterwards, we break bread in a Gratitude Luncheon catered by Robinson's Ribs. We request a $10 donation for all participants above age 10; children 10 and under are free, and complimentary tickets are available for those who cannot afford the $10 fee. Take a Hike on November 17

Saturday, November 17, 2018 - 9:00am

Events around the country are scheduled to celebrate Take a Hike Day.  Laura Derks leads us in a walk through Austin Gardens. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and gather in the Western Lobby at First Baptist at 9am. There will be kid-friendly games, including a scavenger hunt. Afterwards we reconvene to identify ways to work together as a church to care for our Earth. Let the office know if you plan to attend. Hiking can burn between 400-550 calories per hour. Read more »
