When to arrive

Most people arrive only a few minutes before worship. Pastor Kathy is found in the lobby 15 minutes before worship with a warm smile to greet you. Greeters and Ushers can help answer your questions.

We have two worship services, at 8:00am and 10:30am from Labor Day through Memorial Day. Summer worship is at 9:30am only. A time for coffee and conversation is found after the second worship service when there are two.

Who is Good Shepherd?

We are people from a variety of traditions. Some of us never or almost never attended church before coming here. Some are life-long Lutherans. Some come from other liturgical faith traditions such as Roman Catholic. Some enter through the process of seeking a church door that opens wide.

Some of us connect with God most meaningfully through action (social justice, for example). Some of us love a sense of mystical union with God. Some resonate with the divine principally through intellectual inquiry. Some enter relationship with God chiefly through heart-felt emotion. We try to rotate pieces of these paths into our worship from week to week.

Warm, open, caring, creative, concerned, prayerful, inclusive, multi-opinioned, sometimes over-achieving - these are characteristics of Good Shepherd.

We believe that the local church is the hope of the world. Although it may seem accidental that people find a congregation where they sense a good fit, we believe it's not just chance that brings us together. Rather, we are called together by God's holy spirit, nudging us and guiding us. And, in the process, lives are transformed. Together and as individuals we grow in character, strength, compassion, faith, hope, peace, joy. God accepts us just as we are, and brings us along to be and do more than we ever imagined possible.

The Confirmation program at Good Shepherd is for students in 7th and 8th grades. Our program focuses on serving, learning and having fun. Confirmation classes are held on Sunday mornings during the Education Hour. In addition, students attend a monthly Group Learning for more in-depth sharing and a monthly Fun or Serving Event. Students are confirmed in the fall of their freshman year.
