Jazz Prayer: Jazz Goes to Hollywood

Friday, May 18, 2018 - 7:30pm

With the advent of "talking pictures" and the dawn of the Jazz age, it was inevitable that Jazz would find its way into Hollywood. Our May 18th Jazz Prayer, the last of this season, will feature a sampling of the jazz tunes that starred in the movies. Think: "Down Here on the Ground," by Lalo Schfrin, from the movie "Cool Hand Luke" and Duke Ellington's tunes that were featured in "Anatomy of a Murder." Doors open at 7:10pm for appetizers and conversation. Vacation Bible School

Our 2018 Vacation Bible School is right around the corner! Registration is open and we are looking forward to another wonderful year of fun, friends and faith!

Our VBS is June 18-22, 5-8pm. It is open for children aged three through outgoing 5th graders. We begin each evening with a kid-friendly dinner and end with music on the front lawn of the church. In between students rotate through different stations of learning: music & mission, games, Imagination Station and video. Each day we collect an offering that will be donated to a specific cause. World Hunger Offering

$1.00

Students continue to gather funds to purchase farms through World Hunger as a part of the donation at the National Youth Gathering. You can help. Donate your dollars, coins and checks (or visit our online "store" to donate) to World Hunger. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase two entire farms, $1,430. The farms are given to communities so that they can break the cycle of poverty and begin the journey to providing a steady source of food for their families. Each farm includes:

  • A cow
  • a couple of goats
  • a dozen chicks
  • two pigs
  • farming tools
  • seeds
  • agricultural training and support

Pentecost Extravaganza!

Sunday, May 20, 2018 - 8:00am - 10:30am

The Holy Spirit blows a fresh wind into worship on Pentecost.

At the 10:30am service, the choir processes in singing global songs, while people wear clothing in reds, yellows and orange. The lesson from Acts is told in voices from many different countries. After both services there is wonderful food for a celebration worthy of the birthday of the Christian church. Don't miss this last day of our regular program year. On May 27th we begin our summer worship hour at 9:30am.
