Care and Community
GS Connects
Building community is an intentional act that often happens over food. A few words of connection and encouragement with a cup of coffee after worship. Laughter while learning a silly folk dance and eating hearty Oktoberfest food. Gathering in homes on a Sunday afternoon to meet your Good Shepherd neighbors in your neighborhood. It might look like fun, but relationship building is vitally important.
Caring Shepherds
Caring services might begin with the pastor, but that is not where it ends. A team of Caring Shepherds give emotional support during your time of need, whether recovering from surgery, mourning a loss or celebrating an addition to your family. Meal Shepherds provide hot dinners to help you get back on your feet.
Daytimers
Chicago is filled with interesting places and restaurants to visit. This monthly group has seen the National Museum of Mexican Art, the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art and the Cernan Earth and Space Center. The only requisite to join is free time during the day. See our Events page for an up-to-date list of destinations.
Knitters
Novices who know the basics and experts with knowledge of special cable stitches gather to create prayer shawls for members and scarves for children in need. Help learning the “ropes” is provided. What you bring is a prayerful heart to knit into each stitch.
Flock o’ Readers
Come join us! We meet in the church conference room on the following Wednesdays at 2:30pm to discuss new books, favorite reads and favorite authors. If you like to read and share with others about what you have read, this group is for you. For more information, contact the church office or let Barb Hunt know you would like to join the group. Upcoming themes are:
