Now Hiring: AV Ministry Leader
GSLC is looking to fill the paid Audio-Visual Ministry Leader position beginning in April, 2025. This person trains and oversees volunteers who help ensure audio, lighting, and video screen productions that complement in-person worship and oversees video streaming and the online library of worship services. Audio and video technology (AV) is integral to the effective delivery of worship experiences for both those gathered in person and those participating remotely via live stream and on demand video playback of service recordings. To ensure that these technologies are used effectively and are integrated into the planning and delivery of worship and special event experiences, a leader of Good Shepherd’s AV Ministry will be trained, empowered and resourced. This position description is intended to identify the key responsibilities of this position and the resources required to support the leader of this ministry.
Responsibilities
Oversight of all AV systems including audio amplification, video streaming and lighting. Ensure optimal functioning of current system, troubleshoot and resolve issues and prescribe system maintenance
Recommend system enhancements to meet and exceed needs of effective AV support and respond to emerging trends and evolving technologies
Train volunteers on the use of all AV systems and provide ongoing support and leadership to ensure consistent and optimal use of the systems
Advise and support Good Shepherd’s facility liaison for outside group usage when AV system is needed
Participate in weekly meetings with worship planning team
Run audio or video system for worship three Sundays per month and lead other volunteers who serve during worship
Run audio or video system for special services/gatherings including Jazz Prayer, festival celebrations, funerals, weddings, etc. and lead other volunteers who serve during worship
Recruit and schedule volunteers to run audio and video systems for weekly services and special services/gatherings
Create projection graphics for all worship services and special services/gatherings
Maintain online library or worship resources and recordings
Expand knowledge and network of resources related to AV technologies and practices for worship
Skills/Competencies
Appreciation for, and experience with AV technologies including live stream
Experience with Keynote graphics
Eagerness to learn and willingness to accept feedback and guidance
Confidence to lead
Organized
Encouraging to volunteers and fellow worship leaders
Commitment to excellence in worship and gathering experience
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb stairs
Time Requirement
Estimate 5 hours per week to include participation in weekly planning meetings, graphics preparation and in person leadership/participation at Sunday morning worship services
Estimate 25 hours per month to include weekly commitment (noted above) and additional time for system maintenance, volunteer administration, training and special services/gatherings
Compensation
$625 per month, based on $25 per hour
